Classwork and Homework

Alsalamu Alaikum,

Today we had a wonderful day at school alhamdulilah!

Spelling: Students looked at pictures in their spelling books and circled pictures with the same end sound.

Reading: Students sat in groups and read stories.

Science: Students showed the class pictures of the living things they brought from home and we talked about some of their characteristics.

Math: Math book pages 42 and 101. We played games to revise Unit 2 (Number Relationships)

Art: Students wrote their names and drew pictures of themselves on outlines.

Homework: Math book pages 42 and 101 (Home Connection)
                     Read a story.

Reminder: Tomorrow we will go to the library for the Scholastic Book Fair from 13:05 - 13:40 in shaa Allah.

Today we had a wonderful day alhamdulilah!

Writing: Students wrote sentences in their writing notebooks about "Butterflies".

Math: Students took a worksheet where they wrote the number of people they have in their family and drew their family members in number frames. We completed pages 40 and 41.

Science: We read a book about "Jellyfish" and we talked more about the characteristics of living things.

Homework: Math book pages 40 and 41 (Home Connection)
                   Homework Pack (due on Tuesday)
                   Read a story.
                   Bring pictures of living things to class tomorrow.

Classroom an Homework

Alsalmu Alaikum,

Today was a wonderful day alhamlilah!

Reading: Students talked about the stories they read at home. We talked about the different questions we should ask when we see a book cover. We read a book about "living Things". Students sat in groups and read stories.

Math: Math book page 39.

Science: Students learned the characteristics of living things. They took a worksheet about living and non living things.

Islamic Studies: Students learned more about Allah, our Great Creator. They learned that every gift we have is from Allah. We said the duaa of the month.

Gym: We learned about healthy food. We also learned about some healthy habits.

Homework: Math book page 39 (Home Connection)
                     Read a story.

 Please sign your child's Spelling quiz and send it to school tomorrow.

Our Book Fair will be this Friday from 1:05 to 1:45 in shaa Allah.

Alsalamu Alaikum,

Today we had a nice day alhamdulilah.

Spelling: Students had their fourth spelling quiz. We completed pages 17, 18 and 19 in our Spelling books.

Writing: We learned how to add adjectives to our sentences to make them more interesting.

Library: Students went to the Library and learned about titles.

Gym: We played "People to People", we formed lines (straight, zigzag, and broken). Students made different sizes of pizza (large, medium and small)

Science: We talked about Living Things. We read about Living things and what they need to survive.

Islamic Studies: We talked about Allah, the Great Creator. Students drew pictures in their workbooks
of some of the wonderful things Allah created.

Quran: Working on Surat Al- Alaaq (Aya: 6 to 10). Review (Aya 1 to 5)

Scholastic Book Fair

Today we had a wonderful day alhamdulilah!

Art: Students used the leaves and seeds they collected yesterday to make colorful dragonflies.

Math: Math book pages 36, 37 and  38.

Science: Students took a worksheet about Living Things. They learned about what living things need.

Islamic Studies: We learned about Allah, Our Great Creator and the wonderful things He created.

 We also rehearsed for tomorrow's performance. 

Homework: Math book pages 36, 37 and 38 (Home Connection)
                     Homework pack # 4 (due on Tuesday)
                     Read a story.

Reminder: Spelling quiz on Monday (tub, bus, see, bat, sit, us)

Today we had a great day alhamdulilah!

Spelling: Students had their third spelling quiz.

Writing: Students wrote in their writing notebooks. We talked about routine and students copied sentences off the board about how we spend our day. Each student added a sentence of his or her own.

Math: Math book pages 33, 34 and 35.

Art: We went to the playground and collected leaves and seeds, so we can make dragonflies tomorrow in shaa Allah.

Homework: Math book pages 33, 34 and 35 (Home Connection)
                    Read a story.

Kindly note that I sent a slip for you to sign saying that your child is participating in a school performance in the Benefit Dinner and Eid Celebration on Oct 26, 2013.

Assalamu alaikum Dear Parents

Eid Mubarak to all of you.

Alhamdulilah grade1A finished surat AlQadr, and they are practicing now surat "AL-Alaaqq" aya 1 to 5, and they are applying tajweed rules as well. They memorized nasheed "alkaamm Al-Tajweed", we are having fun and quality time in our Quran Class Alhamdulilah.

Please help your child to memorize the assigned ayat.

Today we had a wonderful day alhamdulilah.

Reading: Students talked about the stories they read at home (titles and favorite part). Students read more stories in class.

Spelling: Students looked at pictures in their Spelling books and circled the beginning sounds.

Math: Math book pages 31 and 32.

Science: Today students had their first Science lesson. We talked about what Science is and the different things we will be learning this year in shaa Allah. We discussed the cover of our Science book (It's Alive!) and we talked about some of Allah's creations.

Physical Education: Students drew and colored pictures of healthy food and food that is not healthy.


Homework: Math book pages 31 and 32 (Home Connection)
                     Homework pack #4 (due on Tuesday)
                     Read a story.
