Today we had a wonderful day alhamdulilah!
Reading: Students from 1B joined us and I read My Father's Dragon, Chapter Eight.
Health: Students learned that cleaning products can be dangerous if not used properly as well as medicine. Students watched a move that talked more about the effects of using medicine the wrong way.
Math: Students learned about patterns.
Science: Today we went out to the park with 1B and I spoke to the class about using their senses. They had the opportunity to use their 5 senses while eating their chocolate covered apples.
We practiced the song we will be singing on Monday in assembly in shaa Allah! The students sounded great masha'Allah!

Today we had a wonderful day alhamdulilah!
Reading: Students read at their places quietly while some students read to me.
Math: Math book pages 261 and 262.
Science: Today we went out to the park with 1B and Tr. Jessica and I talked to the students about our 5 senses. We chose structures and talked about the way they look, feel, smell..etc. Each student chose a partner and they chose an object together. They described the smell, look, sound..etc
Students in 1A completed a worksheet about structures and the materials used to make the structures.
Today we joined 1B and we sang a lovely song together that we will be singing in the assembly on Monday together in shaa Allah!

Pottery Workshop: We had the pottery workshop in the gym today and students make dinosaurs, owls and cats. Masha'Allah they did an amazing job! We had so much fun!
Math: Math book page 259.
Spelling: Today students learned how to form action words in the past (add ed). They answered questions in their spelling books about action words.
Science: We are starting our unit about Structure. We went to the park and students looked at different structures. Tr. Jessica talked to both classes about structures and what different structures are made of.

Math: Students sat on the carpet and they took turns to solve word problems about capacity on the board.
Library: Tr. Nancy gave the students who have not returned their books OVERDUE slips. If your child has not returned his or her Library books, please make sure that your child returns the books before May 30th.
Science: Students completed a worksheet about day and night. We also learned more about a cycle and a sequence.
Gym: We played dodge ball!
Today we had Freezies and we played in the public park to celebrate winning first place in the Food Drive!
At the end of the day students sat on the carpet and Alia read Soccer Crazy!

We went to the playground and had lots of fun!

Art: Students made oceans for our fish using paint, glue and salt. Thank you so much for all your help Sr. Saimaa. We had a lot of fun!

Today was Community Day! We had lovely guests today who taught us so much about their fields. We got to meet a Physician, Firefighter, Police Officer, Humane Society Workers and an Artist. Students also got some great gifts from our guests!

Reading: Students sat on the carpet and I read Zaynab and Zeyad Learn to Recycle. We talked about how to take care of the earth and how it is important to never waste.
Writing: Students wrote sentences about Cleaning the Capital in their writing notebooks and they drew a picture of themselves cleaning the playground.
Math: We are learning how to solve word problems involving addition and subtraction. Students worked in groups to solve word problems. Students took a worksheet with word problems and they did part of it in class.
Art: We are making Fish in an Ocean! Today students designed their fish using tissue paper and masha'Allah they did a wonderful job. In shaa Allah next week students will be painting the ocean for our fish.
Today we cleaned the playground!

Spelling: Students wrote list words to match clues and they wrote the list words in alphabetical order. They also completed a story using the list words.
Math: Math book pages 239 and 240 (Students used sticks and circles and number lines to complete the number sentences)
Social Studies: Students read a map of a town. We learned about the different streets and the places we had on our map.
Islamic Studies: We talked about some manners we need to have as guests when we visit our friends.

Story Response Log (Chapter 5)
Today we had a wonderful day alhamdulilah!
Reading: Students sat on the carpet and I read My Father's Dragon, Chapter 5.
Spelling: Students wrote list words to match clues and they wrote the list words in alphabetical order. They also completed a story using the list words.
Math: Math book pages 239 and 240 (Students used sticks and circles and number lines to complete the number sentences)
Social Studies: Students read a map of a town. We learned about the different streets and the places we had on our map.
Islamic Studies: We talked about some manners we need to have as guests when we visit our friends.
Homework: Pray

Classwork and Homework
Alsalamu alaikum,
Today we had a great day alhamdulilah!
Writing: Students wrote sentences about Muslim Manners in their notebooks and they drew a picture and coloured it.
Math: We did some addition and subtraction by using sticks and circles and number lines.
Art: Students learned more about Pointillism. They finished painting their flowers using dots.
We ate fruits and vegetables and they were DELICIOUS!
Homework: Pray
