Classwork and Homework

Alsalamu Alaikum,

Today we had a great day alhamdulilah!

Spelling and Writing:  Students read clues in their spelling books and wrote the correct list words. Students wrote a recipe of their favourite sandwich.  They looked at pictures and named them.

Science: Students presented their projects and we talked about the projects presented today. We really enjoyed the presentations today masha'Allah!

Math: Math book pages 98 and 99.

We went to 1B and we had a potluck. We had lots of fun alhamdulilah!

Homework: Math book pages 98 and 99 (Home Connection)
                     Read stories.
                     Winter Break Pack

Classwork and Homework

Alsalamu Alaikum,

Today we had a lovely day alhamdulilah!

Reading: Students sat in their groups and read in pairs. They read What Do You Wear in the Snow? We talked about the children in Syria and how they need our help.

Writing: We talked about adjectives and nouns. Students gave examples of each. They completed their adjectives worksheet. Students were given a worksheet about nouns and we completed it as a class.

Math: Math book pages 96 and 97.

Science: Students presented their projects and we discussed the projects that were presented today. We enjoyed the presentations very much masha'Allah!

Students who will be presenting tomorrow are: Mariam, Bassil, Dana, Hiba, Hilal and Khalid.

Gym: We played People to People! Students practiced bouncing the ball and passing it to each other.

Homework: Math book pages 96 and 97 (Home Connection)
                     Winter Break pack (due after winter break in shaa Allah)
                     Read a story.

Reminder: 
The deadline to donate for  our brothers and sisters in Syria is tomorrow, December 19. This is the least we can do for our brothers/sisters in Syria. Please send money, blankets or jackets. Talk to your child about how they need our help and the importance of charity. 

We will be having a potluck tomorrow in shaa Allah. Don't forget to send a food item with your child to share with his or her friends.

Classwork and Homework

Alsalamu Alaikum,

Today we had a wonderful day alhamdulilah!

Reading: Students sat on the carpet and I read Eats, Shoots and Leaves. We talked about the story and students learned the importance of using commas.

Math: Math book page 95.

Science: Students presented their projects. Masha'Allah we enjoyed their presentations! We discussed the projects that were presented today. Students sat on the carpet and we discussed the connection among living things. They wrote one sentence in their writing notebooks about How Living Things Help Each Other.

Students presenting their projects tomorrow are: Mohamed, Talin, Sultan, Firas, Rayan, Issir and Aisha.

Gym: Students practiced bouncing the ball and passing it to one another. We played FAST!

Islamic Studies: We talked about the steps of prayer. We learned the different parts of prayer and the proper way to pray. We sang The Pillars of Islam nasheed.

Homework: Math book page 95  (Home Connection)
                     Read a story.

Kindly note that your child took a note home today about a potluck we will be having with grade 1B on Thursday in shaa Allah. Students are looking forward to it!

Classwork and Homework

Alsalamu Alaikum,

Today we had a wonderful day alhamdulilah!

Spelling: Students wrote their spelling quiz. They wrote missing letters in their Spelling books to complete the list words.

Writing:Students sat on the carpet and I read Hairy, Scary, Ordinary. We talked about all the adjectives in the book. Students wrote sentences in their writing notebooks about how living things help each other. Students were encouraged to use adjectives from the book, Hairy, Scary, Ordinary.


Library: Tr. Nancy asked students about their projects. Students checked out books from the library.

Gym: Students played People to People. They were divided into groups and they took turns to kick the ball to each other.

Science: Students presented their projects.They did a great job masha'Allah! Students sat on the carpet and we talked about the projects that were presented today.
 Students presenting their projects tomorrow are: Taha, Uzair, Youssef, Zaina, Yassine, Melike and Alia.

Quran: Students are finishing surat Al-Duha this week and they will be tested after the winter break in shaa Allah.

Islamic Studies: We sang the "Five Pillars" nasheed. We talked about the steps of prayer. Students finished writing one thing they are good at in prayer on stars.

Homework: Read a story.

Reminder: Please sign your child's spelling quiz and send it with your child to school tomorrow.

Classwork and Homework

Alsalamu alaikum,

Today we had a great day alhamdulilah!

Spelling: Students read the new list words and put them in sentences.

Reading: I read "Down to the Sea with Mr. Magee" for the third time.

Math: I wrote addition problems on the board and students took turns to says the sums. We practiced adding and subtracting using fruit loops. Students took a Math worksheet and they wrote down sums. They coloured the picture according to the key given.

Science: We discussed the questions that we need to answer for our project about animals. Students took 5 index cards to write the points they will be presenting in their project. We talked about how to present our projects.

Homework:
  •  Homework pack (due on Tuesday)
  •  Finish colouring the Math worksheets and review your answers.
  •  Story Log: Your child will retell Down to the Sea with Mr. Magee and you will write the details in the story log notebook.

  •  Finish working on the project. Students who will be presenting their projects on Monday are: Luay, Mahmoud, Momin, Omar, Rayanne and Rhiyan 

Reminders: 
  • Study for the spelling quiz on Monday. Don't forget to use Spelling City (test#11) 
  •  Please send the canvas, yogurt containers, cd and pantyhose to school with your child on Monday if you have not sent them.
  • Please send the rubric in homework pack # 9 with your child to school when it is your child's turn to present his/her project.
  • Send the Milk Program form if you would like your child to participate.
