Today we had a great day alhamdulilah!
Spelling: Students read the new list words in their spelling books. They wrote the missing letters to complete the list words. Students looked at pictures in their spelling books and wrote list words that have the same beginning sounds. They looked at pictures and wrote the list words that rhymed.
Reading: We read "Cookies" for the third time.
Math: Students took a Math worksheet and made a graph about Noah's Garden Flowers. Students also showed the class the graphs they made at home about feelings and they described how their family members were feeling.
Science: We talked more about living and nonliving things. Students took a Science worksheet and wrote living and nonliving things in the correct column .
Islamic Studies: We talked more about wudu and prayer. Students answered questions in their I Love Islam workbooks.
Homework: Homework pack (due on Tuesday)

Classwork and Homework
Alsalamu Alaikum,
Today we had a wonderful day alhamdulilah!
Writing: Students learned more about punctuation (full stops, question marks, exclamation marks). They wrote sentences in their writing notebooks about the weather. Students were asked to use adjectives when writing their sentences.
Reading: Students sat on the carpet and I read "Cookies" for the second time. Students got to learn new vocabulary. Cookies is the book Sr. Madlien read us last week for the story log.
Math: Math book page 118. Our Math buddies from 4A joined us today. Students took a worksheet with a graph about a hen laying eggs on different days. Students answered questions about the graph with their Math buddies.
Art: Students made a hen by tracing their hand, colouring and sticking pompoms and eyes. They had lots of fun!

Kindly note that your child has a project to research an animal (details are in homework pack).
Teacher Nancy and I will be collaborating for this in shaa Allah.

Snowy Day
Alsalamu Alaikum,
Alhamdulilah we had a lovely day today!
Classes 1A and 1B stayed together all day as there was no formal teaching due to the number of students that attended school today.
The students had lots of fun playing outside in the snow!
The weekly homework will be sent home tomorrow In shaa Allah.

Classwork and Homework

Alhamdulilah we had a lovely day today!
Reading: Sr. Maram read a story about "Feelings". Students read words that describe feelings and told the class how they were feeling today.
Math: Students made a graph about feelings. They asked 10 friends about how they felt and they made a graph.
Science: Students compared the needs of a human to the needs of a bear.
Islamic Studies: We talked more about wudu and the benefits of it.
Homework: Ask your family members about how they are feeling and make a graph (tired, happy, sad, bored, interested...etc)
Read a story.

Today we had a lovely day alhamdulilah!
Spelling: Students wrote their spelling quiz. They completed sentences in their spelling books using the list words. They read words and wrote words that rhymed.
Writing: Students wrote a sentence about the weather and learned about weather maps.
Science: We learned more about animals and plants. Students wrote some of the characteristics of living things on the board. Sr. Saamia read us a book about "Noses". We learned about some of the different noses animals have.
Islamic Studies: We talked about wudu and sang the wudu nasheed. We also talked about the importance of being respectful during prayer and how to pray. Students said the five pillars of Islam ans sang a nasheed (The Pillars of Islam).
Homework: Homework pack (due tomorrow), please make sure your child makes the booklet. and is able to read it and the word family sheet. Read a story. Practice making wudu at home.
Field Trip: We went to the public library, most students borrowed books and those who did not have a library card got to borrow a book from the school library. Please make sure you return the books to any public library. Books are due in three weeks (Dec 16th). Parents who did not submit the forms can send me an e-mail and I will send a form with their child, so he/she can have a card next time we go in shaa Allah.

Your child will retell you the story and you will write down a summary of the story (the way your child told you the story). Please include all the details your child says.
Writing: We learned about Nouns, Verbs and Adjectives.
Math: Math book pages 114 and 115. Our Math buddies from 4A joined us today!
Art: We are making a book "All About Me".

Reading: We joined 1B and watched a video about Bucket Filling. We read about some of the ways we can fill our buckets. We talked about how to care for each other's feelings.
Math: Math book page 112.
Health: We learned about healthy food and habits.
Science: We watched a video with 1B about the Human body. Students turned an oval into a face and labelled it (ears, eyes, nose, mouth and hair)
Islamic Studies: Students learned about The Five Pillars of Islam.
Homework: Math book page 112 (Home Connection)
Read a story.
Please sign your child's spelling quiz and send it to school tomorrow.
