Alsalamu Alaikum,

Today we had a wonderful day alhamdulilah!

Reading: Students sat on the carpet and Sr. Madlien read My Father's Dragon, chapter five. They completed a worksheet about the chapter.

Some students read the wonderful stories they wrote at home to the class.

Spelling: We played POP for BLENDS! The students had a great time!

Math: Students wrote sums on the board by using sticks and circles!

We went to the Gym for the Arabic Festival and masha'Allah it was great!

Today we had a wonderful day alhamdulilah!

Computer: We went to the computer lab and students played an alphabet game that teaches us to locate the letters on the keyboard.

Math: We learned to add by using sticks and circles and students took turns to write sums on the board.

Science: We went over our Energy unit and we discussed some of the things we learned in this unit. Students answered questions about energy and its sources.

Social Studies: Today we started our new Social Studies unit. We will be learning more about Maps and Community Helpers in shaa Allah. Students completed a worksheet about maps.

Gym: Today we went outside for our Gym class and we played Catch, Bounce and Throw!

Homework: Pray
                  Read a story.

Reminders: Tomorrow the Arabic Festival will be from 9:30 to 11:30 am in shaa Allah.

Reading: Students read quietly while some students read to me.

Library: We went to the library and Tr. Nancy read us some lovely poems. Students checked out books.

Gym: We played Green Light/ Red Light and Giant Soup!

Islamic Studies: Students sat on the carpet and we talked about the manners of a Muslim.

Homework: Pray

Today we had a wonderful day alhamdulilah!

Reading: Students sat on the carpet and I read My Father's Dragon, chapter 4.  Students went back to their places and read quietly while some students read to me.

Spelling: Students wrote the opposites of list words in their spelling books.

Math: We learned different methods to subtract and we played SCOOT!

Science: Students answered questions about energy (types, sources, how to save it and why the sun is important..)

Islamic Studies: Students sat on the carpet and we talked more about how a Muslim must be clean. We also talked about respecting our parents and making them our best friends.

We went out to the park with 1B and we had a great time alhamdulilah!

Today we had a wonderful day alhamdulilah!

Writing: Students sat on the carpet and we talked about some of the things we love about this earth. Students came up with sentences to describe what they love about the earth. They went back to their places and wrote a descriptive piece about our earth.

Math: Students are learning to subtract using different methods. Students completed worksheets about subtraction using number lines.

Art: Students learned about Pointillism. They watched a video and they each started painting in a flower using dots.

Math: We learned how to subtract using a number line. They completed a worksheet about subtraction using number lines.

S.S: Alia, Hilal, Dana, Talin and Yassine presented their Country projects and they did a great job masha'Allah! We also had Turkish delights and Gulab Jamun! They were delicious!

Today we had a great day alhamdulilah!

Computer: Students went to the computer lab and we played educational games.

Math: Students sat on the carpet and I read Earth Day, Hooray! They counted the number of aluminium cans the children were recycling in the story. Then students started a worksheet about addition.

S.S: Bassil presented his Country project and masha'Allah he did a great job!

Science: Students finished decorating their Experiment booklet covers. They watched a video about Earth Day and they completed a worksheet where they wrote about helping the earth and drew a picture of themselves being green.

Gym: We played Roll and Throw!

Islamic Studies: Students sat on the carpet and we talked about how a Muslim must be clean.

Art: Students finished their Art work from last week (Concentric Circles).

Quran: Memorize Surat Al-fajir ayas 1 to 4.

Gym: We played Roll and Throw!

S.S: Sultan, Mahmoud and Taha presented their projects and masha'Allah they did a great job! We had takos too!

Science: We finished our experiment about sunlight. Students answered questions about the importance of sunlight in their experiment booklets and they designed the cover of the booklet.

Islamic Studies: Students answered questions about obeying our parents in their I Love Islam workbooks.

Today we had a wonderful day alhamdulilah!

Spelling: Students wrote their spelling quiz. They put list words in the correct groups and they wrote rhyming words.

Writing: Students finished their descriptive writing about popcorn!

Reading: Students sat on the carpet and I read Library Mouse. We talked  about how we can all be authors. Students learned that they will each be making a picture book to share with the class!

Gym: We played Green Light/ Red Light and we skipped!

Science: We watered our plants and students drew the plant that has been getting sunlight and the one that has been in the dark after three weeks.

Aisha presented her project and she did a great job masha Allah!

Islamic studies: Students sat on the carpet and we talked about the importance of obeying our parents. We read a story about Bilal obeying his parents in our I Love Islam text book.

Reading: Students sat on the carpet and I read My Father's Dragon, Chapter two.

Writing: We ate popcorn and started a worksheet where we described popcorn using different adjectives.

Math: Students took turns to complete number sentences on the board and they completed a worksheet as a class where we completed number sentences using number lines.

Social Studies: Mariam presented her project and masha'Allah she did a great job!

Islamic Studies: We talked about Ithaar. We read stories about Ithaar in our I Love Islam text books.

We ate oranges too!

Today we had a wonderful day alhamdulilah!

Writing: Students finished making their Thank You Cards for our volunteers.

Math: Our Math Buddies joined us and Tr. Marwa played games with us where we filled the missing numbers to complete number sentences.

Hiba, Mohammed and Rhiyan presented their projects. Masha'Allah they did a great job! We had pizza too!

Art: Students used oil pastels to make concentric circles.

Reading: Sr. Madlien read chapter 2 of My Father's Dragon and students completed a worksheet about the chapter.

Writing: We started to make Thank You Cards for some of the volunteers we have at school.

Math: Students made a bar graph about the ingredients we used in our Friendship Soup and they completed page 236 in their Math books.

Science: We watered our plants.
Rayan, Zaina and Rayyan presented their Country Projects. Masha'Allah they did a great job! We also had Chinese crackers!

Today we had a great day alhamdulilah!

Computer: We went to the computer lab and students logged into their storybird accounts. They started to make a book about spring!

Friendship Soup: Students went to the kitchen and we made friendship soup with Tr. Heba. The soup was so good mashaAllah! We had it for lunch today! Thank you so much Tr. Heba :) I would also like to thank our volunteer, Sr. Hellay, Sultan's mother :)

Math: Math book page 235.

Science: Khalid and Youssef presented their projects. Masha'Allah they did a great job!

Carpet Time: Students sat on the carpet and we talked about what volunteering is. We mentioned some of the volunteers we have at school and what they do to help us. Students watched a video about volunteering.

Islamic Studies: Students answered questions about kindness in their I Love Islam workbooks.

Spelling: Students wrote their spelling quiz. They read clues and wrote the correct list words in their spelling books. They also did some proofreading.

Writing: Students finished working on their riddles and they completed their writing about Sharing.

Library: Tr. Nancy read Put It Together.

Gym: We played basketball.

Science: Students drew the two plants for our experiment. They drew the one that has been getting sunlight and the one that is in the dark. Momin and Rayanne presented their projects and they did a great job masha'Allah!

Islamic Studies: We talked about Ithar and caring. We read a story about Zaid and his classmates collecting for the poor.

                   Weekly homework is due tomorrow.

Today we had a wonderful day alhamdulilah!

Writing: We joined 1B! We talked to both classes about storybird. We explained the assignment on the website and both classes created a riddle as a group and published it on storybird! Students watched a video about Stone Soup. We talked about the lessons we learned from the story. Students wrote about sharing and drew a picture of themselves sharing.

Math: Math book pages 231, 232 and 233. Our Math buddies joined us today!

Art: Students coloured baskets. They used construction paper to cut out vegetables and pasted them on their baskets for our stone soup.

Reading: Students sat on the carpet and I read the first chapter of My Father's Dragon for the second time.
They went back to their places and read quietly while some students read to me.

Writing: Students wrote sentences about Stone Soup using the 5Ws + 1.

Math: Math book page 230 and students took turns to show the class the groups they made at home yesterday.

Science: We watched a video about food chains and the importance of the sun as a source of energy.
