Today we had a wonderful day alhamdulilah!
Computer: We went to the computer lab and students played an alphabet game that teaches us to locate the letters on the keyboard.
Math: We learned to add by using sticks and circles and students took turns to write sums on the board.
Science: We went over our Energy unit and we discussed some of the things we learned in this unit. Students answered questions about energy and its sources.
Social Studies: Today we started our new Social Studies unit. We will be learning more about Maps and Community Helpers in shaa Allah. Students completed a worksheet about maps.
Gym: Today we went outside for our Gym class and we played Catch, Bounce and Throw!
Homework: Pray

Reminders: Tomorrow the Arabic Festival will be from 9:30 to 11:30 am in shaa Allah.

Spelling: Students wrote the opposites of list words in their spelling books.
Math: We learned different methods to subtract and we played SCOOT!
Science: Students answered questions about energy (types, sources, how to save it and why the sun is important..)
Islamic Studies: Students sat on the carpet and we talked more about how a Muslim must be clean. We also talked about respecting our parents and making them our best friends.
We went out to the park with 1B and we had a great time alhamdulilah!

Art: Students learned about Pointillism. They watched a video and they each started painting in a flower using dots.

Math: Students sat on the carpet and I read Earth Day, Hooray! They counted the number of aluminium cans the children were recycling in the story. Then students started a worksheet about addition.
S.S: Bassil presented his Country project and masha'Allah he did a great job!
Science: Students finished decorating their Experiment booklet covers. They watched a video about Earth Day and they completed a worksheet where they wrote about helping the earth and drew a picture of themselves being green.
Gym: We played Roll and Throw!

Writing: Students finished their descriptive writing about popcorn!
Reading: Students sat on the carpet and I read Library Mouse. We talked about how we can all be authors. Students learned that they will each be making a picture book to share with the class!
Gym: We played Green Light/ Red Light and we skipped!
Science: We watered our plants and students drew the plant that has been getting sunlight and the one that has been in the dark after three weeks.
Aisha presented her project and she did a great job masha Allah!
Islamic studies: Students sat on the carpet and we talked about the importance of obeying our parents. We read a story about Bilal obeying his parents in our I Love Islam text book.

Friendship Soup: Students went to the kitchen and we made friendship soup with Tr. Heba. The soup was so good mashaAllah! We had it for lunch today! Thank you so much Tr. Heba :) I would also like to thank our volunteer, Sr. Hellay, Sultan's mother :)

Writing: We joined 1B! We talked to both classes about storybird. We explained the assignment on the website and both classes created a riddle as a group and published it on storybird! Students watched a video about Stone Soup. We talked about the lessons we learned from the story. Students wrote about sharing and drew a picture of themselves sharing.
Math: Math book pages 231, 232 and 233. Our Math buddies joined us today!
Art: Students coloured baskets. They used construction paper to cut out vegetables and pasted them on their baskets for our stone soup.

Reading: Students sat on the carpet and I read the first chapter of My Father's Dragon for the second time.
They went back to their places and read quietly while some students read to me.
Writing: Students wrote sentences about Stone Soup using the 5Ws + 1.
Math: Math book page 230 and students took turns to show the class the groups they made at home yesterday.
Science: We watched a video about food chains and the importance of the sun as a source of energy.
Homework: Pray
Math: Complete page 230 and do the Home Connection
Read a story.
Create a riddle on storybird (due on 15/4/2014)
Reminders:
Students will take their Homework packs tomorrow in shaa Allah.
Please send an extra pair of socks to school with your child every day because it is very wet outside.

- Choose a picture
- Click on “Use this Art” and choose “picture book”
- Create a riddle (your riddle should be four pages. Each page should have one picture and one sentence)
